ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- Two Alexander Hamilton High School juniors recently got to perform at the theater that's made their namesake relevant again.

Taiyo Spain and Jason Bernard performed a rap on the Boston Massacre from a British soldier's perspective at the Richard Rogers Theater last month. The Rogers theater is where "Hamilton," the hit Broadway musical on Alexander Hamilton is performed.

As a result of a partnership with the Hamilton Education Program, run by the show, students were able to see the show for just $10 and teachers integrated Alexander Hamilton and the Founding Fathers into their classroom studies.

"We felt the massacre was worthy of having a rap written about it," Bernard said, of the event where British soldiers shot and killed five American protestors. "He was a wild and abrupt situation."

Spain said following the massacre, many Americans sided with the protestors and they wanted to see what the perspective was from the other side, choosing to rap about Theodore Bliss, one of the soldiers charged in the massacre.

Spain and Bernard both went into "Hamilton" blind and said they loved it. They found trying to write a rap in the style of Lin Manuel Miranda, the creator and original star of "Hamilton" to be difficult.

"There's a lot of high-level vocabulary," Bernard said.

Before their performance, Bernard was so nervous, he was shivering, while Spain said it was intimidating getting to perform so many people. But the rap went off without a hitch.

"It felt great," Bernard said. "Everyone was so supportive. It was unreal.

Spain and Bernard also got to meet with some of the actors from "Hamilton."
