BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- A Bronxville Tudor formerly owned by Nobel Laureate and American novelist, short story writer and playwright Sinclair Lewis is for sale.

Julia B. Fee Sotheby's Realty is listing the historic Tudor at 17 Wood End Lane for $3,365,000. Renowned architect Charles Lewis Bowman built the home.

Lewis lived in the five-bedroom, 3 1/2-bath, three-quarter-acre property from 1934-37. He became the first American to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1930.

During his time living in the Bronxville Tudor, Lewis hosted gatherings attended by contemporaries such as Noel Coward and H.G. Wells.

Original features, such as a library commissioned by Lewis, wide-plank floors, a lofty barrel ceiling and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves still remain.

The home features an outdoor bar, heated pool, cabana and formal gardens. The dining room and living room contain oversized picture windows flanked by original leaded glass panels.

“History is undoubtedly alive at this incredible Bronxville home,” said Bronxville agent Kathleen Collins. “Upon entering the library, visitors are transported to an inner sanctum of the twentieth century icon. This feeling only continues throughout the home, which has been exquisitely maintained and updated to meet today’s lifestyle. A stunning interior showcasing timeless Bowman architecture, as well as a convenient location near New York City, make this an ideal home for today, and a wonderful way to commemorate a glorious past.”
