New details have been released after two people suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on I-95 in the Village of Mamaroneck.

The three-vehicle crash took place around 1:13 a.m., Wednesday, on southbound I-95, near mile marker 10.2 in Mamaroneck, when two people, in separate vehicles, were hit by a tractor-trailer, said New York State Police Trooper Michael Cassella.

According to Cassella, the driver of one vehicle, Alwin Martinez, 27, of the Bronx, was having car problems and stopped on the right shoulder of the roadway. Another vehicle, driven by Yesenia Camacho, 26, also of the Bronx, for some reason, stopped in the right lane of I-95 to offer help.

"The two were standing in front of the vehicles when they were hit by a tractor-trailer which pushed the vehicles into them," Cassella said.

He was not sure if the drivers knew each other.

Both Camacho and Martinez sustained serious life-threatening injuries and were transported to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the tractor-trailer has been identified as Furkat Yuldashev, age 30, of Mason, Ohio. He was not injured, Cassella said.

No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation.
