Man Killed Crossing Busy Long Island Roadway, Police Say

The 47-year-old man was killed around 10:25 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, in Garden City Park, according to the Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, the 60-year-old man was driving a 2018 Jeep eastbound in the vicinity of 2349 Jericho Turnpike and when he struck the man who was crossing Jericho Turnpike northbound. 

The pedestrian suffered severe head trauma and was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment where he later died, police said. 

The driver remained at the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
