Vincent Massaro, 78, Formerly Of Sleepy Hollow; Aide To Former Senator

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Vincent G. Massaro, former Sleepy Hollow resident who served as an aide to U.S. Sen. Nicholas F. Brady and professor of finance at Long Island University, died Sunday in Arlington, Va. He was 78.

Born Dec. 26, 1937 in Buffalo, N.Y., to John and Sarah Massaro, Massaro obtained a bachelor of science degree in economics from Canisius College in 1959, and received his master's and doctorate degrees in economics from the University of Notre Dame.

From 1963-65, he was the recipient of a NSF - NATO Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Cambridge. He worked at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, served as Senior Economist at the Conference Board, and was chief economic adviser to U.S. Sen. Nicholas F. Brady, a New Jersey Republican.

For the last 19 years of his career, Massaro was professor of finance in the College of Management at Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus. 

He's survived by Denise, his wife of 50 years, and his children John Massaro and Alexandra Voigt. He's also survived by grandchildren Anna-Sophia Massaro, Patricia Massaro, Giovanna Massaro, William Voigt, Matthew Voigt, and Lillian Voigt; and his three sisters Jeanette Gonglewski, Prudence Sisti and Mary Ann Schmidt. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1910 N. Randolph Street, Arlington, Va., followed by a burial at National Memorial Park in Falls Church.
