Schiavo lived and raised her family in Rockland County before moving to Midland Park many years ago.

"She was an independent woman long before it was fashionable," information from the funeral home noted. "She was a great cook who also loved fine dining and to travel. Her most important priority, however, was spending time with her family."

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley Tasy; Jack and Nicholas Schiavo; Bobby, Christopher and T.J. Chersi; and Michael, Megan and Matthew Pastier, as well as great-grandson Lucas Tasy.

Schiavo was preceded by her husband, Richard.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 24, at the Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave., in Ridgewood. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, in Ridgewood, followed by interment in Ascension Cemetery, in Monsey.
