Dennis Wilson, Jr., 32, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide on Tuesday in Orange County Court. He admitted to driving his Jeep on Route 52 across double yellow lines and hitting a car coming the other way head-on.
The collision killed Jason G. Exley, 28, of Walden, who was driving the other vehicle. Wilson also admitted at the time of the collision os BAC was .20 percent, the District attorney said.
“Fatalities caused by those who drive while intoxicated are as preventable as they are tragic,” District Attorney Hoovler said. “Anyone who takes an innocent life by making the conscious decision to risk the lives of those who use our roads, as well as their own life, by driving while intoxicated deserves lengthy incarceration. I urge all who are tempted to drive while intoxicated to consider the possible fatal consequences of that decision, and make other plans to get home.”
Wilson will be sentenced on on Feb. 13. The court stated it will not sentence him to more than 5-15 years in prison, the District Attorney said.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jason Rosenwasser.
