'Sexually Violent' Offender Convicted Of Sodomizing Boy Reports Move In Mount Vernon

A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of sodomizing a 9-year-old boy has reported a move in Westchester County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 51-year-old Pedro Velez, who has moved to a residence on Glen Avenue in Mount Vernon.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Velez as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent sex offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Velez had deviate sexual intercourse with his 9-year-old victim in February 1999. He was convicted of sodomy by means of forcible compulsion and having deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 11 in November that year and sentenced to a term of 15 years in state prison. Velez is now under the jurisdiction of the Mount Vernon City Police Department.
