Pelham Memorial High School Honored With National Youth Arts Awards

PELHAM, N.Y. -- The winners have been announced in the Eleventh Annual National Youth Arts Awards for theatre, and, for the Eastern region, Pelham Memorial High School won nine awards and had an additional 13 nominations.

The award ceremony for this region will be held Sunday, Aug. 21, in the Bronx.

Here are the winners:

  • Outstanding Production -- "Anything Goes"
  • Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical -- Sarah Liddy as Reno Sweeney in "Anything Goes"
  • Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play -- Maggie Solimine as Emily Webb in "Our Town"
  • Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play -- Sarah Liddy as Mrs. Gibbs in "Our Town"
  • Outstanding Ensemble -- "Anything Goes"
  • Outstanding Costume Design -- Neil Schleifer for "Anything Goes"
  • Outstanding Lighting Design -- David Pentz for "Our Town" (guest artist)
  • Outstanding Choreography -- Donna Fox for "Anything Goes" (guest artist)
  • Outstanding Direction -- Thomas Beck and Neil Schleifer for "Our Town"

Students performed "Our Town" in November and "Anything Goes" in April.
