In a talk co-sponsored by Woodcock Nature Center and the Wilton Library, Alexander will share stories of her travel captured in her new book, "Wild Things, Wild Places: Adventurous Tales of Wildlife and Conservation on Planet Earth."

The event, planned for 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road, is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing from Elm Street Books.

Her book is a look at the changing world of wildlife on Earth as a result of human incursion, and the work of animal and bird preservation across the globe being done by scientists, field biologists, zoologists, environmentalists and conservationists. Library officials said she was able to meet with conservationist George Schaller when he visited the Wilton Library last year.

Alexander, who has also had roles in "Brubaker," "All the President's Men," and "The Great White Hope," was born and raised in Brookline, Mass., and attended Sarah Lawrence College and the University of Edinburgh. Also an actress on the stage, Alexander has received a Tony, two Emmys, among other awards.

She's also been inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame, and has served as chairperson of the National Endowment for the Arts.
