Westchester County Marks 16th Anniversary Of 9/11 A series of events will be held throughout Westchester County Monday to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. The county will host its annual memorial ceremony at "The Rising" at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla at 7 p.m. Monday. The Town of Cortlandt and Villages of Buchanan and Croton-on-Hudson will be hosting a dedication ceremony at 4 p.m. at Croton Landing to dedicate a new memorial, "Reaching Through The Shadow." A remembrance garden, which is a place for reflection and renewal, has been planted adjacent to the memorial. Mount Kisco is hosting it…

Westchester Residents Gather For Prime Solar Eclipse Viewing NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. --  More than 250 people showed up at New Rochelle High School Monday, Aug. 21 for the lunar eclipse of the sun. The event was organized by the school's astronomy teacher Bruce Zeller who said he was pleased -- if not a little overwhelmed -- by the crowd. The event had promised free solar eclipse glasses to all but quickly ran out.  In order to see the eclipse, it was necessary to use solar glasses and a telescope. Zeller advised sharing.
