Robert Clark Jr., age 70, was killed around 9:36 a.m. on Sunday, May 4, in the town of Clinton, when his 1994 Ford Mustang was struck head-on by a vehicle that crossed over the median on the Taconic State Parkway, as Daily Voice previously reported.

The other driver, 19-year-old Jhonny L. Polanco of Bloomingburg, was also killed in the crash. Police said Polanco’s 2006 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound when it crossed into the northbound lanes and hit Clark’s vehicle. Polanco was ejected, and Clark was trapped in his car. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

In an obituary shared by his family, Clark was described as a man whose "boundless love and kindness touched the hearts of family and friends," and whose "infectious spirit drew people to him like a magnet."

Born in Manhattan on November 5, 1954, Clark had a deep love for cars and history, and an even deeper devotion to his children and grandchildren, who now carry his legacy of laughter and compassion.

He is survived by his wife Alexia, son Justin, daughter Alyson and her husband Adam Guterman, and grandchildren Colton Robert, Ari, Addison, and Alexander. He is also remembered by his sisters Jean Clark Johnson, Elizabeth Clark Restivo, and Nancy Clark Crossin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.

A Mass of Christian Burial will then take place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82 in Hopewell Junction.
