The incident took place around 11:57 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, on Newport Road in the Putnam Lake section, said members of the Putnam Lakes Fire Department.

When units arrived on the scene, they found a tree company truck with a chipper had careened into a house when no one was in the truck and it rolled down a hill and into the garage of the home.

Crews made the residence safe by shutting the power off at the breaker panel and requesting NYSEG to the scene to secure the power.

The Patterson building inspector was requested to the scene. Lisi's Towing, Automotive & Truck Repair responded and was able to remove the truck.

"Luckily no one was injured from this incident," the department said. "We are all reminded to make sure we double check our brakes and safety equipment when parked on a hill."
