Man Hits Victim In Head With Tire Pressure Gauge, Police Say

A 38-year-old area man was arrested after allegedly attacking another man with a tire pressure gauge.

The incident took place around 11:16 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13, when the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department received a report of a man with a head injury, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Michael O'Dowd.

Robert E. Shannon, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested after police responded to the parking lot area of 59 Burnette Blvd., and found a victim that told officers Shannon had hit him in the head with a metal object following a verbal argument, O'Dowd said.

The suspect, Shannon, was located walking away from the scene and taken into custody. The metal object used in the assault was identified as a tire pressure gauge and was located at the scene, he added.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Shannon was charged with assault and released to probation officers. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
