PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A Bronx man was charged with several felonies last week after attempting to illegally buy prescription drugs, Peekskill police said.
Jarrod Hall, 31, of the Bronx, was arrested July 17 at the CVS Pharmacy in the Beach Shopping Center while attempting to purchase 180 tablets of Oxycodone, police said. He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, second-degree forgery, a class D felony, first-degree falsifying business records, a class E felony, and fifth-degree insurance fraud, a misdemeanor. He faces a sentence of up to 25 years for the class B felony charge.
Hall was arrested following an investigation by Police Officer Matt Basso, during which he said he learned Hall was attempting to purchase a large quantity of prescription pain killers utilizing a fraudulent prescription. Hall, who allegedly had previously dropped off the prescription at CVS pharmacy to be filled, arrived to take possession of the pain killers and was taken into custody after being stopped, police said.
Hall also was charged with insurance fraud after he paid for the prescription utilizing an insurance card under a false name, police said. He was held for arraignment in city court without bail.
