Michael J. Lorenz, Jr., 88, Of Peekskill, WWII Army Veteran

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Michael J. Lorenz, Jr. of Peekskill died June 8. He was 88.

Lorenz was born May 15, 1925, to Michael and Helen Begany Lorenz. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 in the Philippines during World War II. He was employed at Geringer and Sons Lighting Fixtures for nearly 35 years. He was a member of Tarry Squares square dancing club for 12 years.

Lorenz is survived by his daughters, Helen (Lorio) Lorenz of Richmond, Va., Renee Lorenz Cruz of Peekskill, Denise Lorenz Place (Donald) of Alstead, N.H., and Lois Kessler (William) of Buchanan; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and longtime friend, Dolores Bell of Ossining. He was predeceased by his wife, Renee Marie Reverri; and sister, Lillian.

Calling hours are Tuesday, June 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Montrose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 at Assumption Church in Peekskill, followed by an Interment at Assumption Cemetery.
