Born in Poughkeepsie, Charter was a lifelong area resident. "He had a love for sports and loved baseball and the Yankees," information from the funeral home noted.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Susan Charter; mother and stepfather, Helen and Clarence Shanley; son Kyle Charter; sister Kim Simmons; and brothers Greg and Roy Charter.
Charter was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth Charter and Todd Switzer.
Visitation will be from from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., in Poughkeepsie. The funeral will immediately follow, at 2 p.m. Burial will be private.
