PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Those still looking for a Valentines Day gift have plenty of options in the jewelry category.
At Arthur Weeks and Son Jewelers owner John Weeks said the store is having a storewide sale with 40-50 percent off most items and said some items have been particulary popular this season.
Among the store's most popular items are Chamilia beads, which are a popular line of collectible charms that can be put on bracelets. The store is also selling a lot of silver jewelry this year and just received a large selection of new silver items.
"Sterling silver has also been popular because the price of gold is so high," Weeks said.
Weeks said his store sells a lot of unique items that set it apart from other area stores. "Our estate case does really well," Weeks said. "It's older things that are previously owned."
A popular new product the store is selling is a line of jewelry made from fossilized woolly mammoth and walrus ivory found in Alaska. "It's pretty cool," Weeks said. "We've already sold a few pieces of it."
Weeks, the great-grandson of the founder, said the family owned store had stayed in business since 1896 by providing a good shopping experience. "Quality and service set our store apart," he said.
Arthur Weeks and Son Jewelers will be open on Monday and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
