PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Talk about a brisk awakening to the New Year. The Third Annual Polar Plunge to benefit This is Me Foundation, an organization helping fund college scholarships for local students who have faced adversity or helped a friend through adversity, will take place Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Peekskill Riverfront Green.
Sponsored by The Quiet Man Public House, all proceeds also benefit students who have alopecia, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss.
Applications are being accepted until midnigh tonight for plungers. Go to email@example.com to register.
The event is free and open to the public to cheer on the brave plungers, though any donations are greatly appreciated.
To sponsor a plunger or donate to the event, go to http://www.newyearspolarplunge.org.
All proceeds go directly to the This Is Me Scholarship Fund, inspired by Ryan Risco and Cait Chivonne Polhill.
