OSSINING, N.Y. - Ossining girls basketball, led by coach Dan Ricci and Pride star Soniya Chong, held its place as the top team in the area.

Ossining won its second straight Section 1 Class AA title in March and went on the reach the state Final Four. The Pride routed Our Lady of Lourdes, 79-48, in the Class AA championship as Chong, who will head to the University of Connecticut next year to play big time college ball,. scored her 2,000th point.

Pride hoopsters Kathryn Polletta, Danielle Gervacio and Chong returned for their final year and teamed up to help win a league volleyball title. Ossining won 18 matches and reached the sectional semifinals.

Ossining tennis player Jamie Loeb earned a berth in the 2012 U.S. Open Tennis Juniors Championships and made it to the second round in September.

Matt Belitz, a star shortstop for the Ossining High baseball team, signed to attend Marist College in the fall of 2013 after helping the Pride to back-to-back season records of 14-9 and 12-9. Belitz is back for his senior year this coming spring.

John F. Kennedy High School pitcher and Ossining resident Schuyler Bates signed to attend Penn State in November and will finish his high school career in the spring of 2013.
