OSSINING, N.Y. -- Three Ossining youngsters, Jake Dymond, 8, Sammy Gratz, 9, and Matt Ippoliti, 12, participated in a basketball competition at the Ossining Recreation Center against other youths in their age groups on Saturday, Jan 17.
Each youth was timed and had to perform a series of shots, dribbling and passing, and the best time in each age group then advanced to represent Ossining at the regional competition on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the MSG Training Center.
The above-named boys won for their respective age groups. First-place winners from the regional competition advanced to the All-Star finals during the 2015 NBA All-Star game in New York City.
The boys were given two tickets each for that night's Westchester Knicks game at the Westchester County Center for their participation at the regional level.
Bob Chesna, Ossining recreation supervisor, hopes that Ossining gets involved in this program again next year so that more youths have the opportunity to take part in such a great event.
