OSSINING, N.Y. - The Ossining Recreation swim team ended the summer swimming season as champions of Division IV teams in the Northern Westchester Swim Conference.

Division winners from all 27 NWSC teams competed on Aug. 4 at the Briarcliff Manor Municipal Pool for an All-Star meet hosted by the Briarcliff Manor Swimming and Diving Team.

Coach Maxine D’Agostino said the meet was relaxed and the team "really had a lot of fun competing in the summer league.”

League titles were won by Stella Meyerhoeffer, 10, and Thomas Overacker, 12, for their first- place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle. Nico San Martin, 14, took second in his 100 freestyle, posting a best time of 53:70. In the 8-Under 25-yard backstroke, Orion Douglas and Karla Arevalo both placed second in the league.

Emma San Martin netted third in the 12-Under 50 backstroke. Ivonne Gomez and Demetrios Gutierrez also placed third in their 8-Under 25-yard butterfly events.

Juliet Weglarz took third in the 10-Under 25 butterfly, and Claire Ponnaiya locked in third in the 12-Under 50-yard butterfly against much older girls.

Four Ossining relay teams landed top three finishes.

Sinceraty Alexander, Stella Meyerhoeffer, Juliet Weglarz and Nicole Calle led off the meet with a second place finish in the 10-Under 200 yard medley relay.

A mixed-age team of girls aged 10 to 14 claimed a strong second-place finish in the 14-Under medley relay with Emma San Martin, Sam Novo, Claire Ponnaiya, and Kate Flynn filling out the relay.

In the 200-yard freestyle relays, two Ossining teams placed in the top three.

The boys 12-Under team took second with Thomas Overacker, Alex Carrazzone, Brandon Carlos, and Daniel Browne swimming strong.

The 12-Under girls took third in their event, fielding Emma San Martin, Sam Novo, Stella Meyerhoeffer, and Claire Ponnaiya.
