Dear Parent/Guardian:

As you know, last Wednesday, (Sept. 24) a lockdown took place at Ossining High School. Anytime a lockdown is called, our ultimate goal is the safety of our students and staff. Using that as the criteria, the lockdown was successful. However, lockdowns are also disruptive and disturbing and could possibly cause anxiety for everyone involved.

Earlier today, Mr. Joshua Mandel informed the students that our guidance counselors are available to speak with your child if he/she would like to discuss their feelings. There are also many other adults available - social workers, psychologist, or administrators.

Additionally, please know that the events leading up to the lockdown are being treated as seriously as possible. At this time, we are cooperating with law enforcement and those responsible will be subject to both school and legal consequences pursuant to school policy and law.

If you have a particular concern related to your child, please consider speaking to your child's principal.  Sincerely, Raymond Sanchez
