OSSINING, N.Y. -- The annual school district budget vote and board of education election will be held today for the Ossining School District.
Voting is set for 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Ossining High School. Results from the election are expected to be announced in the evening.
Voters will decide among Carlos Desmaras, Lisa Murray and incumbent Bill Kress for the two open seats and vote on the Ossining School District’s proposed 2013-14 budget. Trustee Cindy Winter is not seeking re-election. For more information on the candidates, see our previous election story.
The Ossining School Board passed the proposed $110 million budget earlier this year. The budget includes $238,000 in cuts to the central administration, reduces transportation costs by $337,000 by removing before school music programs at the elementary school, and 7.16 full-time equivalent positions to special education. The proposed tax levy increase is 3.4 percent.
