Hancock, who is replacing the retiring Joshua Mandel, has been with the district since 2008. He started as a social studies teacher at an Anne M Dorner Middle School before being promoted to dean. In 2013, he was promoted to assistant principal. Last year he was named principal of Roosevelt Elementary School.

"Mr. Hancock is dedicated to our students and staff and is focused on educating the whole child," Superintendent Ray Sanchez said. "He has many characteristics that make him a great fit for Ossining High School. I am confident that Mr. Hancock's drive, dedication, and creativity will have a positive impact on the students and staff at Ossining High School."

Hancock will be officially appointed at the March 16 board meeting and begin his job on July 1. A search will also begin for the next principal at Roosevelt.
