Yonkers Swears In 12 New Probationary Police Officers

YONKERS, N.Y. – The Yonkers Police Department will conduct a hiring ceremony for 12 new probationary police officers on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Riverfront Library.

The new officers will take the oath of office and will be presented with their shields.

The new officers will take the oath of office and will be presented with their shields. The Yonkers Police Honor Guard will begin the ceremony. Deputy Mayor Sue Gerry will administer the oath of office. Deputy Chief Tim Hodges and the command staff from the Yonkers Police Department also will be present.

The officers are Patrick Greene, Denis Delango, Vincent Reda, Michael Vataj, Theresa Donohue, Douglas Clayton, Michael Heath, Jamal McCown, John DeTone, Michael Giusto, Evan Belluscio and James Waldron.

Family, friends and members of the public are invited to attend. These recruits will begin extensive training next week at the Westchester County Police Academy in Valhalla for approximately six months followed by local training at the Yonkers Police Department Training Division.
