Officers from the Scarsdale Police Department responded to the intersection of Fenimore Road and Tompkins Road at approximately 6:11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, where there was a report of a disabled vehicle in the middle of the road.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2019 black Hyundai Sonata parked in the middle of Tompkins Road at an angle, as if it had been turning from Fenimore Road and came to a stop, investigators said.

Police said that the officers found a woman - later identified as Yonkers resident Rashida Jones - in the driver’s seat, asleep behind the wheel. Initial attempts to wake Jones up were unsuccessful. Officers proceeded to remove the keys from the ignition and Jones was stirred after several attempts.

According to police, when she woke up, Jones was disoriented and “was not making sense with her statements.” When asked where she was and where she was coming from, Jones was unable to offer an intelligible answer. The responding officer also noted that there was alcohol on Jones’ breath and her eyes were glassy and bloodshot.

Jones was arrested and charged with DWI with a prior conviction and aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content greater than .18 percent with one or more convictions, both felonies. She was also cited for illegally parking on Tompkins Road.

Following her processing, Jones was released on $100 cash bail and scheduled to appear in Scarsdale Village Court on Wednesday, Aug. 19 to answer the charge.
