Ossining Police Arrest Robbery Suspect

OSSINING, N.Y. – A 19-year-old Ossining man has been arrested and charged with attempted robbery.

Jesus Acosta was arrested in connection with a reported robbery Sunday night on Secor Road, said Village of Ossining Police. An Ossining man spotted police at around 11:10 p.m. and told them that two men “had just tried to rob him” of a cell phone and his red and black plaid jacket, according to a press release. The alleged victim said both men, dressed in dark-colored clothing and wearing masks, assaulted him, according to the release.

“One placed him in a choke hold while the other punched him,” wrote Lt. Michael McElroy in a press release. “In the struggle, he bit the arm of the man holding him in the choke hold and managed to hold onto his phone.”

One of the two men took the victim’s plaid jacket and both fled toward the Ossining Train Station, according to the release.

When police located Acosta, he had a gas mask and a plaid jacket, police said.

Acosta has been charged with second-degree attempted robbery, a felony, and criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. Acosta was taken to county jail. Bail was set at $5,000.
