Dakeem Stockling was found with multiple sexually graphic images of a minor which he also distributed, authorities said following an investigation into his Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat accounts, Acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo said Friday.

Stockling was charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography and third-degree possession of child pornography. He is scheduled to appear in Union County Superior Court on Wednesday, June 17.

He also awaits sentencing following a guilty plea to charges of third-degree invasion of privacy and fourth-degree cyber harassment, authorities said.

Meanwhile, the number of referrals being made for child pornography offenses are on the rise in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo says, urging parents to monitor their children’s online activities.

“In the first full month following the March 9 executive order initiating a public health emergency, the Task Force received 29 referrals, up from just 17 in April 2019,” officials said.

“This surge mirrors trends seen statewide and across the country. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children recently reported that the number of tips it received exploded from just under 1 million in March 2019 to slightly more than 2 million in March 2020.”

The Prosecutor’s Office urges citizens to report all incidences of suspected child pornography to their local police department or via the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Cyber Tipline at www.cybertipline.com or 1-800-843-5678.
