Born Jan. 19, 1930, to Eva and Stuart Nassauer in Brooklyn, she was baptized as Marie de Lourdes. After graduating in 1947 from Seton Hall High School in Patchogue,, she joined Maryknoll Sisters Congregation from St. Lawrence Parish in Rockville Center Diocese with the religious name Sister Mary Frederick.
Her first profession of vows was March 7, 1950 and her final vows were made March 7, 1953, both at Maryknoll. While she was at Maryknoll, she earned her bachelor's degree in education then was assigned to teach at St. Ann's Primary School in St. Louis. In 1956, she went to teach as Maryknoll Primary School in Los Angeles.
A few years later, she was assigned to work overseas in Chile, teaching at parish schools. After returning to Maryknoll, she earned her licensed practical nursing degree, then she went back to Chile to minister to the sick.
In 1979, the Maryknoll Sisters Chile Region opened a new mission in Salamanca, Chile where she worked in pastoral care until 1991. During her time at the Maryknoll Sisters Chile Region, she served on the governing board then later she worked as an administrator for the region center's house in Santiago until 1995.
Returning to New York in 1996, she volunteered in several roles at Maryknoll Sisters Center until her health declined. After her death, her body was donated to science.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Joan; and brother, Fred.
Her brother, Stuart Nassauer, survives her.
A wake and vespers service will be conducted at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 3 in the Main Chapel at the Maryknoll Sisters Center.
