Leon Ogrodnik, 77, Of Ossining, Graduate Of Ossining High School

HARPSWELL, Maine - Leon Ogrodnik died May 15. He was 77. 

Ogrodnik was the son of Samuel and Zibia Ogrodnik. A 1953 graduate of Ossining High School, he attended Albany State Teachers College and served in the Korean War. Ogrodnik’s career included running television transmitters on Mt. Greylock, Mass., for stations in Albany and on the Empire State Building for stations in New York City.  He was also a studio engineer for the David Susskind Show, among others, at WETA, the PBS station in Washington, D.C. Ogrodnik is survived by his wife, Kay Lowbar Colvin Ogrodnik; sister, Elizabeth (Gerald) Strauss of Bloomsburg, Pa.; daughter, Marcia Lynn “Mo” Ogrodnik (Mathew) Bardin; stepsons, Theodore, Elliot, and Christopher Newcomb and Christian Colvin and their families; stepdaughters, Julia Colvin, Laura Matheny, and Sarah Unfried and their families; two grandchildren; and a nephew. He was predeceased by his parents. A Celebration of Life Memorial Jazz Concert will be held at 3 p.m. June 30 at the West Harpswell, Maine, School.
