Henry D. Nibbe Sr., 89, Ossining Resident

OSSINING, N.Y. – Henry D. Nibbe, Sr., a resident of Ossining for 53 years, died Thursday, Jan. 14. He was 89.

He was born in Brooklyn on Dec. 13, 1926 to Henry and Henrietta (Blank) Nibbe. He was a graduate of Hastings High School class of 1945. He then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a motor machinist.

He married Dolores Murphy on Dec. 18, 1949, at St. Anthony's Church in Yonkers. He was employed with Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-On-Hudson for more than 60 years and served on its board of directors in recent years.

He is survived by his five children Lori (Bob, Jr.) Lamb, Henry Jr. (Debbie),Thomas (Sonia), Barbara (Tim) Bushell and Jennifer; his sister Henrietta McGowan; and eight grandchildren, Jesse and Douglas Ryan, Gregory Lamb, Brianna, Sophie and Sierra Nibbe; and Michele and T.J. Bushell.

His wife, Dolores, died in 2013. He also was predeceased by a sister Helen Powers.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Dorsey Funeral Home, 14 Emwilton Place, Ossining. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, 381 N. Highland Ave., Ossining. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings.
