Felice J. Tavano, 99, Former Ossining Resident

OSSINING, N.Y. – Felice J. “Phil” Tavano, a former longtime resident of Ossining, died Thursday, June 16 in Coconut Creek, Fla. He was 99.

He was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Ossining, the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Minniti) Tavano. He was a graduate of Ossining High School's Class of 1935. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and served throughout Europe. He worked for the U.S. Post Office in Ossining for 36 years and retired as a superintendent. He moved to Coconut Creek in 1994. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and dancing with his wife, Rose.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rose; three children, Suzanne, Philip and Anthony; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Marie and Jeanette; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Antoinette, who died Oct. 10, 1975.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Dorsey Funeral Home, 14 Emwilton Place, Ossining. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann’s Church in Ossining. Interment will follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
