Audrey Grossman, 83, Ossining Resident

OSSINING, N.Y. – Audrey Grossman, of Ossining, died Tuesday, March 29 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Ossining. She was 83.

She was born in Brooklyn on May 2, 1932, the daughter of Meyer and Minnie Braverman. 

She lived in Westchester County for more than 50 years. She held a master’s degree in social work and retired after 30 years as a music therapist at NY Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in White Plains. 

She loved music and was an accomplished pianist and accordionist, performing recitals in town hall as well as playing club dates in many of the major hotels New York City in the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s. 

She eventually used her talents to help a wide range of patients clinically as a music therapist. Her home reflected her love for music with chachkies and music artifacts.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Leviatin (Daniel) and grandson Samuel Leviatin, all of Tarrytown; son Edward Grossman (Joan) and their three children, grandson Aaron Grossman and granddaughter Casie Grossman, all of Vermont, and grandson Max Grossman and great-grandson Abraham, all of New Hampshire.

Her partner of many years, Stanley Bernstein, died in 2003 and she also was predeceased by her sister, Anita; brother-in-law, Ben Perry.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Star of David Chapel, 1236 Wellwood Ave., West Babylon, followed by interment at New Montefiore Cemetery.
