OSSINING, N.Y. – Alberto Di Sisto, of Ossining, died Monday, Feb. 22. He was 89.
He was born Sept. 22, 1926, to Pedro and Carmela (Calandrello) Di Sisto in Sassinoro, Italy, where he was raised.
As a young adult, he lived in Montevideo, Uruguay, before moving to Ossining. He worked as a mason and contractor for many years. He was a husband, father and grandfather who looked forward to Sunday meals with his family. He started and ended his days in his vegetable garden, loved to fish, enjoyed playing bocce on Sundays and card games with his siblings on the weekends.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Yolanda; his son, Alberto (Susanna); daughter, Monica Di Sisto-Watkins (Sulani); brother Ricardo; sister Asunda Velardo (Nicola); grandchildren Aaron, Esteban, Jacqueline and Domenica and a great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his brother Michael and sister Emma Santucci.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb, 26, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Leach & Thomas Funeral Home, 32 State St. Ossining. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 25 Eastern Ave., Ossining. Interment will be at St. Augustine's Cemetery.
