Rehab Center Project Brings New Castle-Ossining Water Deal Into Question

A controversial plan to expand a children's home and rehab center has raised questions about the full impact of a proposed agreement to provide Ossining with New Castle water, according to examinernews.com.

New Castle officials have been told that the town's water supply can provide 600,000 gallons to the village of Ossining each day while the village upgrades its Indian Brook Water Treatment Facility, according to examinernews.com.

The water agreement would result in the creation of the Spring Valley Water District, which would serve about a dozen homes. New Castle Councilwoman Hala Makowska, however, has said that Sunshine Children's Home and Rehab Center in Ossining also would be provided with service, according to examinernews.com.

The home had previously submitted an application to expand from 54 to 122 beds. The plan is largely opposed by neighbors, according to examinernews.com.
