Police were called to the home when a female resident said three men, one armed, broke into her apartment and stole some items, Ossining police said.

The men left before police arrived and are still at large, according to Ossining police. Police described the men as being in their late teens or early 20s.

As a precautionary measure, Ossining schools were placed on lockout, preventing anyone from getting in. The lockout lasted approximately 30 minutes.

Police said the school was initially placed on lockdown and then placed on lockout. Lockdowns prohibits students from leaving their classrooms, while lockouts prohibit anyone from entering the building.

The lockout was lifted at 10:15 a.m, according to an e-mail sent from police.
