The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to residents in Westchester regarding the residency of 37-year-old John Azabache, who has moved to a residence on South Regent Street in Port Chester.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Azabache as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a sexually violent sex offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Azabache had deviate sexual intercourse with his 16-year-old victim in March 2013. He was arrested by the Ossining Village Police Department and convicted of third-degree rape of a minor under the age of 17 in September that year and sentenced to 10 years probation. Azabache is now under the jurisdiction of the Port Chester Village Police Department.
