OSSINING, N.Y. - Here are some of the top stories this week in Ossining:

  • John Mangialardi, the Ossining Town Justice candidate who was killed Tuesday, was remembered as a "gentle giant." The 55-year-old Briarcliff Manor lawyer was crossing Route 9A in Ossining to hang up campaign signs when he was struck and killed by a driver police accused of being drunk.
  • The latest installment of State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef’s periodic television program “Dear Sandy” highlights the intern program Galef offers. In the half-hour program high school students Brendan Zarkower, Jeffrey Guzman, Ross Beroff, Alanna Powers and Cat Purdy discuss their experiences interning in Galef’s district office during the summer.
  • Representatives from Energize New York were on hand all day at the Ossining Library on Sept. 5 to explain applications for free or reduced home energy assessments.
