Letter: Pass Ossining Bond for Better Schools

I have been on the Ossining PTA Executive Board for 7 years and co-president of Anne M. Dorner Middle School and I deeply care about the future of our schools and community. I am asking the residents of Ossining to vote yes on Tuesday, March 6 for the Ossining School Bond Referendum.  I have 3 children, all of which attend different schools within the district.  I volunteer my time at all of these schools through my PTA involvement.

My oldest child ’s school, AMD, concerns me tremendously as there is poor ventilation in various parts, roofs are leaking, the exterior wall is cracking and there is there is very little space left with in its current configuration. As my children move through the schools, I am also concerned with the high school and the infrastructure needs there.

I attended many board of education meetings and informal gatherings further learning of the critical building needs. This bond will address critical needs and space issues with using the school’s current building configuration more efficiently. As a concerned taxpayer, I appreciate that this bond will not increase taxes and in fact save us money by replacing old, inefficient boilers.

While our community is made up of various parts, when the schools are not maintained and preserved the whole community suffers.   Responsibly investing in our assets is something I stand behind.  Please join me on Tuesday, March 6th to vote Yes for the Ossining School Bond to keep our schools strong.
