Valhalla Creamery & Sweet Shop Is Finalist In DVlicious Ice Cream Contest

VALHALLA, N.Y. -- From simple vanilla to gourmet caramel combinations to the invasion of the Oreo  -- is anything better on a hot day than the cool swirl of ice cream?

Classic, traditional options, along with newfangled flavors, can be found in all corners of Westchester with a number of versions served a variety of ways (hello whipped cream, fudge, sprinkles and waffle cones).

You, however, picked five nominees for the best ice cream in the county, meaning now's the time to nail down the winner.

Voting is open until Friday, June 26; go here to cast your ballot. The other candidates will be featured daily with another profile Tuesday.

What Makes Their Ice Cream Special: It's all homemade on site with no artificial coloring. There's also a large assortment of flavors to choose from.

Most Popular: Cookie Monster Meets Peanut Butter Cup (vanilla-based ice cream with Chips Ahoy cookies, Oreos, brownie bites, cookie dough and peanut butter cup).

There are also seasonal flavors like candy cane and eggnog during the holidays and apple pie in the fall. The newest flavor is Let's Do Brunch, maple syrup ice cream with French toast and bacon.
