NORTH SALEM, N.Y. (August 29, 2016) — New York State health plan Fidelis Care recently partnered with the Westchester Parks Foundation, formerly known as Friends of Westchester County Parks, to host three special events at Camp Morty in North Salem. The camp offers a quality outdoor traditional camp experience for underprivileged children residing in Westchester County. “We were pleased to form a relationship with Fidelis Care during one of Camp Morty’s recruitment events earlier this year,” said Joanne Fernandez, Chairwoman of the Westchester Parks Foundation. “They reached out to us to offer programming support for Camp Morty. We are extremely grateful for their generous donations and hope to continue to work with them in the future!” This summer, Fidelis Care donated to various events at Camp Morty, including a professional face painter and bouncy house for the children to enjoy during the camp’s annual Siblings Birthday Party; a Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Truck during their Color Wars/Olympics Day; and a cotton candy and ice cream machine during the camp’s end-of-year carnival. “Fidelis Care is dedicated to helping children stay healthy and active,” said Chief Marketing Officer Pamela Hassen. “We are proud to partner with the Westchester Parks Foundation, and support local residents and families that attend Camp Morty.” This year, the Westchester Parks Foundation took the lead over recruitment and enrollment efforts, which resulted in a significant increase in enrollment compared to last year. Children who receive services through the Department of Social Services are eligible to be enrolled at Camp Morty, which is funded by DSS and supported in-kind by the Westchester County Department of Parks.
