Folk Musician Tim Rowell Performs At Ossining's Jug Tavern

OSSINING, N. Y. -- Ossining native and musician Tim Rowell is bringing his banjo Oct. 22, to The Jug Tavern in Ossining as he presents the Roots of American Folk Music during two separate shows.

Rowell, who plays banjo, is joined by fiddler Ambrose Verdibello in a program that highlights the beginnings of Appalachian folk music in the 19th century. Rowell, who grew up in Ossining, now teaches in the Boston area and is director of the Traditional Music Project for the Real School of Music in Burlington, Mass.

Rowell has been playing the banjo for more than 40 years, and says his influences include Pete Seeger and others from the Hudson River Valley.
