Rockland Pastor, Nyack Native Leads Prayer In Ceremony In D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Reverend Nathaniel Demosthene, pastor at First Timothy Christian Church in Spring Valley, on Tuesday served as guest chaplain, leading the opening prayer on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to mark the sixth anniversary of the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
The Haiti earthquake was a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 event that struck the country nearly 16 miles west of Port-au-Prince, and killed up to 150,000 people, though estimates vary. The earthquake caused major damage, and to date, the country is still in a state of recovery.
