Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann Making Big Changes Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann Making Big Changes
Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann Making Big Changes NEW CITY, N.Y. – George Hoehmann strikes an avuncular manner that might be somewhat deceiving.  In less than a month since becoming Clarkstown’s new town supervisor, the Republican has made tough decisions. He has whittled down his administration, shrunk the number of town attorneys, replaced key positions with lower salaries, and consolidated the directors of finance and operations from two jobs to one. Streamlining the $1.5 million town attorney staff from seven full-time positions and one part-time member to two full-time, one part-time, plus outside contractors who will not be paid pen…

On a recent Saturday morning before 8 a.m., an hour when most teens wouldn't dream of getting out of bed, McGovern was already beaded with sweat after training on a rowing machine at 256 Main Street in Nyack. The village-based River Rowing Association uses the former warehouse building, a 3,500-square-foot shell that is essentially unheated, winter-long to train youth and adult athletes. Th…

"The stones were almost unreadable because of age and dirt," said Allen. "I had to trace my fingers over the inscriptions to see if I …
