ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The New York Jets may be having a rough go sitting at the bottom of the AFC East, but for some sports fans, the team is still providing a season to remember.
Tappan Zee High School students in the Entertainment and Sports Marketing classes traveled to MetLife Stadium recently to learn about the behind-the-scenes operations of the NFL franchise during Sports Business Day.
The students were allowed into the Jets locker room during the Oct. 20 visit and spent time with a number of team executives to learn more about the “off field” business of sports, according to a statement from the school.
The students met with Chris Pierce, senior director of fan commerce; Larry Fitzpatrick, vice president of consumer sales & service; Melissa Montouri, director of the team’s Sponsorship Department; Ryan England, manager of premium partnerships; John MacCarter, director of finance; and Kristen Connelly, director of marketing & fan engagement.
The goal, according to the school, was for the students to learn about the executives and their paths to their current positions with the Jets.
In addition to learning lessons dealing specifically with the curriculum taught in Tappan Zee's Entertainment and Sports Marketing classes, the students received tickets to the Jan. 1 game against the Buffalo Bills.
“It was a TZ win for the day,” according to the school’s statement.
