The custom portrait, painted by Shabrina Hou, was commissioned through the generosity of Virginia O'Brien Fortin, a dedicated friend and benefactor, who is a former member of the College's Board of Trustees.

Shouldis, a Seymour resident, was the College's third president in its nearly 25-year history. The ceremony was attended by Shouldis and her family, members of the College's Board of Trustees, and the St. Vincent's community.

"Martha has had a profound impact on the growth of the College," said Dr. Stuart G. Marcus, president & CEO of St. Vincent's Medical Center. "Her leadership resulted in tremendous increase in the number of students we graduated and the number of programs we developed."

The celebration was a reaffirmation of the accomplishments and growth of the institution that occurred as a result of Shouldis's leadership.

"We are so grateful to Mrs. Fortin for her ongoing benefice to St. Vincent's Medical Center and St. Vincent's College," said Armand Fabbri, College Board Chairperson. "This stunning portrait is a tribute to Martha and her tremendous contributions to this institution."
