VALLEY COTTAGE, N.Y. -- A Valley Cottage man was sentenced Wednesday to up to four years in prison for violently attacking his wife by headbutting her and destroying her computer after she found "disturbing" photos on his cellphone, according to the Rockland County District Attorney's Office.
Nicholas Clark, 34, was sentenced to an indeterminate term of one-and-a-third to four years in state prison after being convicted by a jury last year of felony criminal mischief, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe.
“This case is another example of how we are working to break the cycle of violence that affects so many families in Rockland County. The lengthy prison term imposed is warranted and just," he said.
The attack took place on Jan. 22, 2014, after Clark's wife confronted him about disturbing photographs found on his cell phone.
According to trial testimony, Clark reacted violently, head-butting and verbally assaulting his wife, before smashing and destroying the computer at their condominium in Valley Cottage.
Senior Assistant District Attorney John W. McGowan prosecuted the case.
