PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- A Stony Point man is facing several charges after he injured a police officer’s elbow while he was being arrested, Orangetown police said.
Stephen Hylas, 31, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony; resisting arrest, a misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a violation, on Sunday, March 20, police said.
According to police, Hylas swung his arms around and tried to flee the officer who was arresting him.
The officer sustained an elbow injury that required medical attention, police said.
Hylas was arraigned in Orangetown Justice Court and is to return there to answer the charges on Wednesday, March 23, police said.
