NYACK, N.Y. -- A woman struggling to call the police for help on Sunday from Memorial Park in Nyack, was stopped by the man she was arguing with when he grabbed her phone, according to the Orangetown Police.
Victor Scala, 55, of Hampton Bays, was arrested on numerous charges when Orangetown Police responded to the park after receiving a call of a possible domestic fight and found Scala and the woman in a car arguing, police said.
The woman told police that he had prevented her from calling for help by taking her cell phone during the argument, police said.
Scala was charged with criminal mischief, harassment, and disorderly conduct. During the investigation, police found that Scala was also wanted by the Village of Nyack on unrelated charges.
After being processed, Scala was turned over to the Rockland County Sheriff's Office in regards to the warrant.
