ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. - A man and woman from Rockland were busted by police over the weekend after allegedly breaking into an occupied Pearl River home in the wee hours of the morning.
Members of the Orangetown Police Department were dispatched to a Pearl River home shortly after 5 a.m. on Saturday following reports of two people breaking into the home.
Police said that officers canvassed the area based on the descriptions provided by the victim and they quickly identified two suspects in the immediate area, 39-year-old Tappan resident Matthew Lorber, and Blauvelt resident Marie Grassi, 39.
The two were arrested at the scene and processed at Orangetown Police Headquarters. They are each charged with felony counts of second-degree attempted burglary and third-degree criminal mischiefs. They are also charged with conspiracy, possession of a burglar’s tool and criminal possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanors.
Following arraignment, Lorber was remanded to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Grassi was remanded in lieu of $10,000 bail. Each is due back in court this week.
